Security: ECAPI, police launch youth anti-crime movement in Lagos

In a bid to ensuring crime-free Society, The Eagle Crime Awareness and Prevention Initiative (ECAPI) has collaborated with the Nigeria Police Force to flag-off youth anti- crime movement in Lagos State.

The Youth Anti -Crime Movement event on the theme “Building Youth Resilience Against Crime Towards Safer Nigeria” which had in attendance Security Agencies including the Nigeria Army, Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and other stakeholders from law enforcement agencies was launched at the Police College , Ikeja Lagos.

Speaking on the initiative, President of Eagle Crime Awareness and Prevention Initiative (ECAPI), Ambassador Samuel Eniola Adam revealed that the idea was an initiative of Nigeria’s Inspector General of Police, Olukayode Egbetokun toward the mandate of eradicating crimes through Youth in the country.

” this project is an initiative of Inspector General of Police to educate the younger ones especially in Lagos where we have popular area boys whom i choose to call Anti-Crime Youth ” in the state. He said.

In his key note address, The Inspector General of Police, Olukayode Egbetokun who was ably represented by DCP Salisu Khan acknowledged ECAPI ‘s effort at sensitizing Nigerian Youth.

Pointed that for any nation to grow, youth must not be neglected .

” i wish to officially flag-off this initiative in total recognition of provision of Nigeria Police Force in calling our youth back to order and back to life” he said.

Crime prevention remains everyone business in Nigeria and should not be left with Security agencies alone.

According to the Nigeria Army, represented by Major General Sunday Akinyemi, if anybody commits a crime, it is important for Nigerians to report appropriately and follow it up as this will help the security agencies in the country.

Having highlighted some issues leading to crimes and morale decadence amongst youth, guess speaker, Engr Mustopha Akin emphasized on the importance of learning, improving the value of education and opportunity for youth who are into legitimate business to be encouraged and patronised by the government.

This is believed will keep Nigerian youth busy and prevent them from engaging in crime as it may.

Amongst other organisations who were at the flag- off event to support the initiative on youth Anti-crime movement was Kirt’s Kare Foundation .
