On 1st of December, 2018 Aper Igbadio (PhD in view) was appointed the substantive and 5th Rector of Fidei Polytechnic Gboko, Benue state after serving as acting Rector of the institution.
His appointment is unique in different ways, his one of the pioneer staff of the Polytechnic to be elevated to the echelon position of Rector of the institution having served as member of the Examination Committee between 2003- 2004
In 2006-2008, he was HOD Pre-ND, Examination officer, Business Administration & Management 2010-2012, Director Consultancy Unit 2009 – 2019, acting Rector of the Polytechnic 2013, Deputy Rector 2014 – 2019, and Chairman Mock Accreditation Fidei Poly 2013 – 2019, Chairman Steering Committee, Entrepreneurship Education 2015 – till date, Chairman Quality assurance Committee 2016 – 2019.
Igbadio also served as Chairman Disciplinary Committee for Senior Staff, Fidei Poly 2016 – 2017, Chairman NYSC Mobilization Committee 2016, Manager Community Relations, Fidei Polytechnic Gboko 2016 till date.
The aforementioned position strategically positioned him to deliver well in all spheres.
Since his coming on board as the Rector of the institution, Mr. Aper Igbadio has demonstrated capability in terms of decision making, infrastructure development, staff well-being and uplifting the standard of the Polytechnic.
The core aim of a Polytechnic is to render technical education to her students which is done in line with the guidelines and close monitoring from the mother body that regulates the activity of Polytechnics, National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) through accreditation and re-accreditation of programmes being offered.
As a Practical based institution, the Polytechnic procured modern machines and equipment in the Laboratories, Studios, Workshops and Entrepreneurship Centre to promote technical and vocational education in Nigeria.
From 2018 to date, NBTE had visited Fidei Polytechnic Gboko for inspection and from its success report, the school rating improve significantly and all the programmes presented were fully accredited.
In terms of academic programmes, the school operates over 28 National and Higher National Diploma Programmes in different areas of specialization which are all accredited by NBTE.
Structurally, a visit at the institution located on Gboko – Aliade road, will give you a clear picture of world class infrastructure put in place for learning and teaching, well equipped laboratories, lecture halls and office space for students learning and academic research. With a touch of modern sporting facilities for students extracurricular activities.
As it has been the tradition of Polytechnics, her students do embarked on Students Industrial Work Experience Scheme and within his reign as the Rector of the Polytechnic. Recently, the SIEWS unit of the Polytechnic was successful accredited by NBTE.
Furthermore, Fidei Polytechnic participated in National Exhibition organized by Federal Ministry of Science and Technology, Abuja in 2020 and 2021 and certificates of Merit were awarded to the Polytechnic.
In 2022, the Polytechnic diversified its objective by setting up a standard Jamb CBT Center in other to alleviate the sufferings of admission seekers during Jamb Registration.
Quarterly, the institution do engaged ITF for staff training, partnering with ITF to Promote skills acquisition programmes such as N-build training and the institution has established and do maintain a robust and cordial relationship with her host community.
During his take over as the Rector of Fidei Polytechnic Gboko, Igbadio outlined some of his area of interest which include uplifting the standard of the Polytechnic to become the Best in Nigeria, staff welfare, infrastructure development and enhancing teaching and learning in a conducive environment.
Igbadio’s sterling imprint so far in the school shows his unending commitment to distinguish Fidei Polytechnic Gboko from many others.
