FCTA staff want award system sustained

Staff of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) have urged leadership of the administration to sustain its award system.

The workers who spoke ahead of the coming 4th award edition, said the award had created healthy competition among them.

A senior staff of the FCT Fire Service, Controller Adebayo Amiola, who spoke about the award and recognition, said it has put workers on their toes, with determination to perform maximally.

The senior fireman, noted that since the institutional framework for the award was approved, there had been healthy competition among workers in various departments and agencies.

Another worker who pleaded anonymity, but a staff in the office of the Minister, noted that the award has motivated her to be more dedicated to her duty.

A young lady who was recognised in the last award, disclosed that many workers are now, always gunning for an excellent service performance, with a desire to be recognised.

The FCTA’s Acting Director, Reform Coordination and Service Improvement Department, Dr Jumai Ahmadu said the award and recognition was instituted in accordance with the reforms going on in the civil service.

She disclosed that since inception of the award to the forthcoming 4th edition, workers have testified of enormous impact which it has brought on them.

Ahmadu noted the award Committee members have lived up to the responsibility of sticking to the standard rules for selection.

According to her, the consideration include, Punctuality, outstanding contribution to the overall performance of the SDA.
Resourcefulness in overcoming challenges to meet assigned objectives.

“Ability to work with superiors and subordinates in a disciplined, honest and professional manner.
Exhibition of leadership qualities and acceptance of responsibility”.
