Ministerial Slot: Plateau group urges Tinubu to appoint Chief Gizo

By Pwanagba Agabus, Jos

A group under the aegis of Concerned Plateau Patriots has called on President Bola Tinubu to appoint Chief Amos Gizo as Minister from the State.

The group also said since the return of democratic structures in 1999, Plateau-Central Senatorial Zone has produced only one minister, compared to the other two zones in the State.

It would be recalled that the immediate past minister of Labour and Employment and former governor of the State Sen. Simon Lalong, had resigned from the Federal Executive Council late last year, and moved to the Senate.

This was disclosed by the group’s Convener, Chief Sarki Zailani, while briefing journalists in Jos the State Capital.

He said, “Mr. President had appointed our son Rt: Hon. Simon Bako Lalong as Minister of Labour and Employment at the inception of this administration.

“To the glory of God, Rt. Hon. Simon Bako lalong was returned victorious at the tribunals as Senator representing the Plateau South Senatorial District.

“He has since resigned as Minister and has joined his colleagues in the National Assembly thereby creating a vacuum in the Federal Executive Council as Plateau State has no representative”, he explained..

“It is on this note that our Forum is passionately appealing to Mr. President to kindly consider Plateau State in the Federal Executive Council by appointing Chief Amos Yaduksu Gizo as Minister,

“We have explored all options and have painstakingly taking this position because of the tract record of Chief Gizo in Plateau State and Nigeria in general.

“Records available to us show that Plateau Central Senatorial zone has actually been robbed of ministerial slots since the inception of this democracy in 1999.

“For the records Southern Zone has had six slots, Plateau Central one and Plateau North five slots”, the forum maintained.

“We pray the God of Justice and equity to touch Mr. President to consider Plateau Central and Chief Amos Gizo particular as minister.

“Chief Amos Gizo is a teacher, a publisher, a businessman, politician of grassroot touch and an employer of Labour who has touched the lives of many Nigerians.

“The beauty of Chief Amos Gizo is his Pan – Nigerian heart who romances all tribes, creed and religions.

“He is a bulldozer if it comes to assignments and will deliver on record time.

“We are totally supporting Mr. President and assured him of our total loyalty and the government of our dear nation as we pray to God Almighty to give him good health, strength and the wisdom to pilot our country to greater heights. Mr. President, on your mandate we shall stand”, the forum stressed.

It would also be recalled that Gizo was a former chairman of the ACN in the State, was a gubernatorial aspirant in the 2023 general elections.
