A Nigerian-US boxer, Igbokwe Raphael aka ‘Trouble’ a Middleweight boxing Champion based in Houston Texas, USA
has expressed his excitement to be back home after 12 years in the United States, saying that being a Nigerian makes him happy.
This expression was made during a courtesy visit to Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, the Chairman/CEO Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), at her office, in Abuja.
Raphael said, “This is the best time I have had in my life, I am super excited to be back home in Nigeria. I love Nigeria.”
According to the boxer who was very elated, describing Nigeria as his home adding that coming home is the best decision he has made.
Meanwhile, the NiDCOM Boss, Dabiri-Erewa who was very happy to receive the boxer appreciated him for making Nigeria proud.
Dabiri-Erewa urged Igbokwe to continue to be a role model to Nigerians, while noting that the country is proud of him.
“We want to work with you to harness the many talents out there and mentor these youths. There is so much we will be doing together. You make me proud to be a Nigerian.”
Dabiri-Erewa encouraged him to continue to be a good ambassador of the country, narrating that the Commission has established a Diaspora Sports Mentorship Programme to facilitate Diaspora skills transfer in Sports.
Raphael Igbokwe is a Middleweight boxing Champion based in Houston Texas, USA.
He is credited to have 18 wins, 3 losses and 11knock-outs.He is proudly Nigerian.
