We will shock the FG after March 2nd – Taraba Labour boss

From Celestine Ihejirika, Jalingo.

Sequel to nationwide protest embarked upon by Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) on Tuesday, indications have emerged that at the end of March 2nd 2024, the federal government will be experiencing the shock if it fails to honour demands agreement with labour.

The State Chairman, Comrd. Peter Jediel, who disclosed this to newsmen shortly after reading a communique by the NLC President, Comrd. Joe Ajaero at the end of protest in Jalingo, said it will no longer be business as usual, if the federal government fails to meet the demands/terms of agreement with labour.

According to him, “if the demands are not met after the expiration of March 2nd 2024, an indefinite nationwide strike will ensue pointing out that, it will be mother of all strikes that will lead to complete lockdown of entire country and urged the people of the state to start getting prepared as food, market, vehicular movement, others will all be grinded down”.

Inscriptions on the placards by the civil servants in Jalingo read” “End Hunger and Poverty; Remove Tax on Drugs; Stop Fooling the Masses; Stop Cheating our Future; Let Justice Prevail in the Land; We will Shutdown the State and Nigeria; Stop Double Allocation to Politicians; Snough is Enough”.

Comrd Jediel who had earlier sued for peace in the state noted with satisfaction that the conduct/maturity and law abiding civil servants will adhere to instructions and urged them to continue in that spirit.

The number one labour leader in Nigeria he said, had expressed deep disappointment and condemned the action of the federal government in refusing to implement the agreements with labour, describing the continued suffering of Nigerian people and workers as unbearable.
