ASDEV ‘81 Club holds medical outreach

* DELSU Dep VC, Prof. Mbah to deliver keynote address  

In pursuance of the core objective of the ASDEV ’81 Club, Asaba, Delta State, the chapter Chairman Ogbueshi Emeka Udobi has disclosed that the club is to organise a medical outreach in Asaba, March 30.

The Deputy Vice Chancellor, Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka, Prof. (Mrs) Patience Mbah will deliver the keynote address at the opening ceremony.

Already, a Medical Outreach Committee headed by Chief Peter Ejiofor (Akwue Ahaba), whose unparalleled passion for humanity would add impetus to the drive, has been set up.

The Chapter Chairman also leveraged his relationship with Dr. Martins Mosere, Medical Director of Komfort Consult & Surgeries Hospital and Dr. Fred Nwadiaro of Priscon Clinic, to secure their partnership and generous support

According to Udobi, the club will offer free malaria testing and treatment, eye test and lenses, Hepatitis B and C testing and treatment, tuberculosis screening and treatment, HIV testing and counseling, blood sugar testing, treatment for hypertension, testing and medication for diabetes, medication for prostrate and many more, stressing that the patients will be educated on how to better manage their health and stay healthy. 

He noted that the current economic situation in the country had thrown a lot more people below the poverty line making it difficult for them to afford basic healthcare, adding that the medical intervention is imperative to save the lives of many indigent people in the communities.

The ASDEV ’81 Club of Asaba is a development club whose core objectives are to promote and organize activities that will enhance the welfare of Asaba people through scholarship programmes for indigent people, skill acquisition and job creation for youths, providing healthcare intervention, sports promotion, and promoting the cultural heritage of Asaba.
