A truck rammed into the crowd on Saturday at the Onitsha Bridge Head, killing unspecified number of people.
An eyewitness claimed that the truck, traveling towards Asaba, had malfunctioned brakes and rammed into the crowd.
The truck was said to have skidded off onto the pedestrian walkway and crushed bystanders and individuals waiting to board vehicles bound for Asaba. Among the victims were a mother and her children, as well as several other pedestrians.
A woman who narrowly escaped the tragedy however lost her children to the crash.
The Anambra State command of Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) is yet to make public the exact number of casualties.
