Benue commissioner calls for truce in BSUAA

From Chiangi Avese, Makurdi

Benue State Commissioner for Education and Knowledge Management, Dr Frederick Ikyaan, has admonished members of the Benue State University Alumni Association (BSUAA) not to allow their personal interest at no time to override the association’s interest.

Dr. Ikyaan gave the advice when the Interim National Executive Council of the association led by its Chairman, Prof. Qrristuberg Amua visited him in his office on Friday in Makurdi.

The commissioner pointed out that once personal is allowed to override public interest, it would give room crisis. He encouraged them not to allow personal interest a chance in the association, emphasizing that they should work in unity for the overall good of the association and their alma mater.

“I urge you and your team to bring sanity to the association as it has been bastardized for too long. Offer useful solutions to the lingering crisis to bring it to an end. I am aware that you have inherited a problem and must work very hard to address it without apportioning blames”.

Dr. Ikyaan further said, “even if you would not achieve any other thing; by bringing enduring peace and sanity to the association, you will have written your names in gold”.

Prof. Amua had earlier informed the commissioner that they came to felicitate with him as an Alumnus of the Benue State University, Makurdi and to appreciate Gov. Hyacinth Alia for appointing him as a member of his cabinet.

He lamented that the association did not partnered the ministry way back due to the lingering crisis, assuring that with the Commissioner on the saddle the ministry would enjoy a seamless partnership of the association, adding that it would also advance government ideals.

He further pledged to harmonize all the factional groups and conduct credible elections in line with the mandate of the interim executive council.
