By Daniel Tyokua

An official of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), Mr. Andrew Akuma of the Investigation and Prosecution Unit, legal services secretariat, has emerged as the new (Ter ) leader of Tiv people in Abuja Municipal Area Council.

Akuma was selected after meetings of kingmakers from all the Tiv ruling houses of twelve wards in AMAC and presented to the Ter and chairman of Tiv Traditional Council in the Federal Capital Territory, Chief Joseph Aneh, who confirmed him.

Addressing elders and the youth during the installation, Joseph Aneh called on Tiv people in the Nation’s capital to always work for the interest of all.

He urged them to promote causes that will portray the ethnic group in a good light.

Aneh, who was represented by Gabriel Akpen, secretary of Tiv council, explained that the emergency of Akuma will halt activities of obscure persons that parade themselves as leaders in FCT especially in AMAC.

He asked him to work for the unity, peace and love among his people, while he advised Akuma not to be collecting food items, drinks and cash from unsuspecting Tiv people around him in the name of appointing them leaders in their respective communities.

According to him, Tiv people are known for peace and should not allowed self acclaimed individuals to tarnish the hard earned image.

He said, “We should be concerned about promoting peace and unity in the Federal Capital Territory. Tiv people have a peculiar culture of ‘ya na angbian’ (chop and give your brother).

The new Ter u Tiv is from Ichongu, he hails from Turan in Kwande Local Government Area of Benue state, married with children
