Victor-Marie Hugo, a French poet, novelist, and essayist died more than two centuries ago but there still stands some immortal and memorial thoughts he blessed the world with before his demise in 1885.
Hugo said that: there is one thing stronger than all the armies in the world, and that is an Idea whose time has come.
These thoughts bear striking parallelism to the fecundity of fresh ideas, vision and clear cut road-map which Abdullahi Yusuf the presidential aspirant for the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) Staff Thrift credit and Cooperative society elections and his integrity team will bring on board to bear.
The whole idea for his coming is to transform, refashion and redefine the business and management protocol of the NHIA cooperative to the benefit of all members, irrespective of your place of primary assignment in the country.
Whoever advised the abdullahi to vie for the post of the president of the cooperative, has offered one of the most patriotic and generational service to our dear NHIA cooperative family.
For those who have been following the leadership qualities of abdullahi popularly know as (Skipo), amongst the NHIA community, he is best described as a dependable, competent and transparent person, whose guiding principle is anchored on justice and equity.
His blue-print and roadmap in transforming the NHIA thrift credit and cooperative society is premised on nine thematic areas:
a.Consolidation of the on-going reforms to safeguard the savings and investment of members and also boost members confidence on the safety of their funds and contributions.
b. Housing for members through strategic engagement with critical stakeholders such as Federal Mortgage Bank.
c.collaboration and exploring innovative funding processes to expand the capital base of the cooperative’s pool with relevant players like; bank of industry BOI and Bank of Agriculture BOA.
d. Financial inclusion, these will guarantee easy access to financial services to all members especially those in the zonal and state offices.
e. Strategic investment to backup and grow the saving pool, thereby improving the wellbeing of members through easy access to loans, market resources and services.
f. Social welfare of all members and new vista of healthcare investment initiative for the esteem members.
g. The rapid implementation of ICT instrument in the delivery of the thrift business protocols in order to eliminate the man-know- man syndrome in accessing loan facility.
h. Increase in stakeholder engagement and customer service care.
I. Inclusivity, which is the hallmark of the integrity team led by abdullahi Yusuf will continually update the zonal and state offices members on the happenings and operational procedures of all the activities of the thrift and credit scheme. This is to engender equity and making sure no one is left behind.
With all these transformational agenda, it is unarguably that Abdullahi and his team are strategic, focused, unassuming, dogged and evidentially profitable for the NHIA cooperative.
Beyond his commendable and loud initiatives of changing the landscape of the thrift, the ICT pillar of his campaign agenda driven process, is aimed at strengthening and standardizing a transparent process in all the business ecosystem of the cooperative.
It is normal for cynics to regard an opinion piece like this as a publicity stunt or image making work. Such tendencies are only justifiable if the facts outlined in the piece are controvertible. The truth, really is that Abdullahi has a track record that cannot be faulted by anyone even his opponents attest to it in whispers.
With dint of hard work and dedication, abdullahi demonstrated leadership prowess when he acted as president of the cooperative when his principal Mr. Olawuyi Kayode was out of the country. It was resounding joy amongst staff and members of the cooperative who attested to his capacity as a progressive, saying he is best fit to succeed his principal.
Now is the time for all members of the cooperative to take a bold step by voting massively for abdullahi Yusuf and His team with the Mantra (Team Integrity) as the president of NHIA cooperative.
