Benue Governor Hyacinth Iormem Alia, has said his administration has earmarked more roads for construction in Gboko and such roads will be made known not later than May 29th.
Gov Alia stated this on Sunday, at St Francis of Assisi Parish Gboko during a thanksgiving service organized in his honour by the Kunav United Development Association (KUDA), Gboko Branch.
The governor appreciated Gboko people for supporting him during the 2023 general elections and enumerated programs and policies of his government in the agricultural sector which he said will be beneficial to the benue people.
“Farmers, artisans and business people should form cooperatives and associations that my government will support with all the necessary requirements needed to ensure that they contribute to the economy of the state, and also to improve on their livelihood” the governor said.
The governor pointed out that, “the time for electioneering was over. Now is time for the development of the state, I am calling on all to join hands and support my government to provide dividends of democracy to the people, and appreciated KUDA for organizing a thanksgiving in his honour”.
In his speech, the Speaker, Benue House of Assembly, Chief Aondona Dajoh appealed to Jemgbagh people to support Gov Alia, as to enable him deliver on his campaign promises to the Benue people.
The Speaker noted that the governor had not changed his stance made during his electioneering campaigns, where he promised to develop and improve the economy and wellbeing of the state and it’s populace.
Chief Dajoh assured that under his leadership, the assembly would continue to give the governor all the needed and required support to move the state forward positively.
Earlier, the Gboko Caretaker Chairman, Hon. Avar Verlumun said that the people of Gboko will continue to support governor Alia, and appreciated him for the ongoing construction of a flyover in Gboko.
In his address, the Chairman of the occasion, Barrister Edward Ashiekaa SAN, thanked KUDA for organizing a thanksgiving for the governor, adding that such gesture was highly commendable.
He said that the governor was a Godsend to the Benue people, disclosing that at this season of pentecost, there was need for peace, calm and a spirit of togetherness as to prosper and move the state forward, and called on those fanning on embers of discord to desist forthwith.
In their separate speeches, Hon. Victor Ugbene, who spoke for Gboko West, and Hon. John Aondowase Mimi who spoke for Gboko East, lauded the governor for supporting Chief Aondona Dajoh to become the Speaker, assuring that the people of Gboko will continue to stand by him.
The Gboko APC Chairman, Hon. Terfa Iorgilim also assured Gov Hyacinth Alia of the loyalty and support of the APC in Gboko, saying that under the governor’s leadership, the party will continue to grow stronger and more united.
