President General, Global Peace Movement International, UK, a none governmental organization based in UK with affiliations of over 50 countries of the world, Dr. Mike Uyi has described the Nigerian Senate President, Godswill Akpabio as an icon of democracy and a good example of what leadership should represent.
Uyi gave this commendation at a press conference to announce it’s 2024 award ceremony on Friday in Abuja.
He said that available and verifiable facts singled out the Senate President Godswill Akpabio as a pride of Africa, worthy of emulation.
“The numerous achievements of the Akpabio administration in Akwa Ibom State, particularly noted the free, compulsory and qualitative education policy; free medical care for pregnant women, children and the aged; and the massive infrastructural investment”.
“We are also not forgetting his developmental achievements during his administration as minister of Niger-Delta these among others stood him out and made him deserve this award “, Uyi noted”.
He said because of Akpabio’s democratic nature within the shortest time, he was elected into the Executive Committee of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) at the last 147th Inter-Parliamentary Union General Assembly in Luanda, Angola.
“The prestigious INTERNATIONAL PEACE AWARD is aimed at promoting excellence, encourage achievers and motivate key industry players, who have contributed immensely to the development and growth of Nigeria and democracy”, Uyi stated.
