Insecurity: Zamfara elder flays Dauda says gov reduces indigenes to messengers

From Salisu Zakari Maradun, Gusau

“We don’t know where to lay our hands on as far as the administration of this our state is concerned, because everything has been given to some people who are not indigenes of the state but brought in by the present governor Dauda Lawan,” says Alhaji Yau Saadu while speaking to The Authority in an interview in Gusau, the capital of the state during the week.

Yau also lamented that all the indigenous workers are off since the day Dauda took over the mantle of leadership of the state.

According to him, all the sensitive sectors, including the finance, are in the hands of those he brought from outside the state who are claiming to be his friends just for the simple reason they worked together during his (Dauda) stay in the Bank where he worked. “if you look at the whole situation, our people are only like messengers at their respective offices as almost all their schedules have been snatched away from them for those people I mentioned above, rendering them useless and speechless,” he narrated, adding that in Zamfara today it had even gotten to a point where even a commissioner who is also a member of the State executive council, is not as powerful and recognized as those non-indigenes, you cannot spend one naira from the treasury of the government without their nod”.

He also disclosed that the present government under Dauda Lawan had only succeeded in betraying the people having deviated from its earlier promises, to the people of the state. Said he, “This man was loved by almost all the people of the state when he was vying for the number one citizen of the state because of what he told the people he would do should he be given a chance to rule, and that love was not for anything but his words of addressing insecurity as it was the only thing that worries the entire people of the state, adding that in Zamfara today, there is nothing you would do to its people to impress them than to ensure the return of peace that will allow them to go to their farms for their normal farming activities, the opportunity that has gone out of hands for over a decade following its invasion by bandits and banditry activities that resulted in abduction of innocent citizens and indiscriminate raping of women.”

Commenting further, the interviewee stated that from all indications, the governor is not serious about the issue of insecurity,” because we have not seen any sign of seriousness in that regard”.

“The government also promised workers of implementing the 30,000 naira minimum wage, but to their dismay and instead of them to see what they were collecting previously, the money of the month he promised to effect the 30,000 suffered unnecessary deduction.

Currently, continued Alhaji Yau, “the whole people of the state are fed up with the PDP led government and which is why many of them are presently trooping into the offices of the opposition APC to look for food because life has become unbearable to all the people across the state as a result of poor leadership exhibited by the present governor.
