The David Mark-led African Democratic Congress (ADC) has announced a 126 member National Convention committee to be chaired by Sen. Liyel Imoke and to be assisted by Sen. Aminu Tambuwal while Dr. Ajuji Ahmed will serve as Secretary.
This is even as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) delisted the leadership of the party from it’s portal and further advised it not to hold congresses and national convention.
In a notice published on Sunday by Hon. Chinedu Idigo, National Organising Secretary and Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, National Publicity Secretary, the party filled membership of the different sub-committees including: Venue, Security, Finance, Media and Publicity, New Media, Accreditation, Protocol, Welfare, Medical, Welfare, Legal and Convention Process, Programme and Events, Accomodation, Electoral, Logistics as well as Secretariat sub-committee.
The convention is slated to hold on Tuesday, April 14, 2026.
The constitution of the committee is aimed at ensuring a well-coordinated, transparent, and credible convention process, in line with its commitment to internal democracy and organisational strengthening ahead of future elections.
The development comes amid ongoing efforts by the party to stabilise its internal structures following recent leadership disputes and interventions by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), which have triggered competing leadership claims within the party.
The committee comprises of representatives drawn from across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, reflecting what the leadership described as an inclusive approach to party administration.
A senior party official said the composition of the committee was designed to ensure broad participation and credibility. “The idea is to carry everyone along and ensure that the process is transparent, credible, and acceptable to all stakeholders,” the source said.
The party has, in recent weeks, reiterated its resolve to remain united despite internal disagreements, assuring members of efforts to strengthen party cohesion and expand its national appeal.
