The Minister of Defence, General Christopher Gwabin Musa (Rtd), has reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to honouring existing military agreements and strengthening strategic defence cooperation with Germany and other international partners.

Musa gave the assurance when he received a high-level German delegation led by the Ambassador of Germany to Nigeria and ECOWAS, His Excellency Stefan Rössel, at the Ministry of Defence Headquarters in Abuja.

In a statement issued by the Special Assistant (Media) to the Minister, Leah Katung-Babatunde, the Minister assured the delegation that the Ministry would ensure the effective utilisation and maintenance of defence support equipment provided to the Armed Forces of Nigeria.

He also pledged that all operational and administrative concerns raised during the meeting would receive prompt attention.

The Minister, who recalled previous engagements with Germany during his tenure as Chief of Defence Staff, expressed Nigeria’s appreciation for the country’s sustained technical assistance, particularly the provision of critical medical facilities for Nigerian troops over the years.

Earlier, Ambassador Rössel expressed condolences to the Minister, the Armed Forces and the Nigerian people over the recent Nigerian Air Force aircraft crash.

He said his visit was aimed at strengthening bilateral relations, enhancing security integration and exploring additional areas of operational support between both countries.

Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to promoting a robust and mutually beneficial multilateral defence architecture, underscoring the importance of sustained international partnerships in addressing emerging security challenges.
