Edo guber: PDP candidate pushes for traders’ welfare

By Daniel Tyokua

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in the September 21, 2024 in Edo state, Dr Asue Ighodalo has urged strategic stakeholders in the state to step up efforts in boosting activities of traders.

This followed an appeal by the PDP candidate to revenue agents across the state to always liaise with micro, small and medium scale business owners to peacefully correct ill areas, if they exist instead of friction.

One of the PDP chieftains from Benin, Kelvin Bello in an interaction with journalists in Abuja, said the governorship candidate is committed to well-being of business owners, especially petty traders.

According to him, harressement of traders by task agents would affect government plans for the people.

Bello said recently Ighodalo, popularly known as AI, “Had reached out to the relevant agencies of government and appealed to them to stop locking up or closing down businesses.

“He discussed with the authorities that many businesses are struggling to survive”

Ighodalo explained that it is the responsibility of government to support businesses to remain in operation and grow, not to close them down.

“His intervention is believed to be the reason why micro, small and medium scale businesses, now enjoy respite from tax agencies.

“Ighodalo is not new to advising government on economic policies and ways to grow the economy. He was chairman of NESG and chairman of Alaghodaro,” Bello said.
