FG distributes 740 trucks of rice to States, FCT for vulnerable citizens

By Chesa Chesa

Federal Government says it has supplied 20 trucks of rice to each state of the federation and the federal capital territory for onward distribution free of charge to the most vulnerable residents.

Minster of Information and National Orientation, Muhammed idris disclosed this to journalists after the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting chaired by President Bola Tinubu at the State House, Abuja, on Monday.

The Minister said each truck was laden with about 1,200 bags (25kg) of rice, and the states have taken delivery of the items.

The initiative was part of the government’s broader strategy to mitigate the current hardships faced by Nigerians, and that State governors have been tasked with ensuring the rice reaches the most vulnerable populations, the Minister explained

He noted that this distribution marks the first step in the government’s continuous efforts to alleviate food scarcity and its associated challenges.

The Minister pointed out that the Federal Ministry of Livestock Development would soon commence operations, enhancing agricultural investments and implementing further measures.
