Speaker stresses importance of teacher’s training, education

Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas says teachers holds the key to effective teaching and learning in society, adding that they are critical as education is crucial to personal and collective national development.

Speaking at a public hearing on bills aimed at amending the Federal Colleges of Education and National Teachers Institute Acts organized by the Committee on Federal Colleges of Education, the speaker also stressed the importance of teachers’ training and development.

The sponsor of the Bill seeking to amend the federal colleges Act to establish the federal college of education Special Dukku Rep. Abdullahi El-Rasheed from Gombe state maintained that its passage into law would avail courses in various fields of education for Teachers and students with special needs.

However, Honorable Aliyu Boya who sponsored the legislation aiming at establishing a technical college of education in his constituency says its passage into law would enable the platform for nurturing technical education in the country, with the view to equip youths with skills necessary for a prosperous future.

The Committee of the federal colleges of education chaired by Hon. Adamu Lokoja, says both Bills when passed into law by the House, aims to proffer quality training for potential teachers which would in turn impart adequate knowledge on their students.
