New NAGGW boss vow to combat desertification, promote sustainable development

The new Director-General of the National Agency for the Great Green Wall, NAGGW, Mr. Saleh Abubakar, MFR, has vowed to build on the foundation and consolidate on the achievements recorded by his predecessor, in combating desertification and promoting sustainable development of the Nigerian drylands.

He said this recently when taking over from his predecessor, Dr. Yusuf Maina Bukar at NAGGW Corporate office in Abuja.

Abubakar pledged commitment to duty and solicited for the maximum support of the management and staff of the Agency to work as a team in order to achieve the mandate of the Agency to the latter.

Saleh appreciated the outgoing DG conscientious efforts and professionalism in achieving the Great Green wall program of halting desertification and restoring degraded lands.

Handing over to the new helmsman, Dr. Bukar said the Agency under his leadership, achieved tremendous successes in terms of addressing land degradation, especially in the 11 frontline states troubled by desertification.

Yusuf thanked the management team for the support and cooperation he enjoyed during his leadership period and implore them to accord same to the new DG.

A press release signed by Mrs.Sule Pauline, head, Information and PR Unit, NAGGW said the new DG is a graduate of Political Science from Ahmadu Bello University Zaria who is highly experienced in public administration and decades of experience across several sectors.
