FG to continue supporting projects of German govt

The Federal Government said it continue to support German Cooperation’s projects in the Country.

Minister of Environment, Balarabe Abbas Lawal gave the assurance while receiving a delegation from the German Cooperation led by the Project Manager, Integrated Approach to Climate Change in Rice Production System in Nigeria, Ozman Altamirano in his office Abuja.

Head, Press and Public Relations Unit, Federal Ministry of Environment, Ibrahim Haruna disclosed this in a press release.

He said the Minister urged the delegation to extend its Agroforestry, Rice, Mango and Banana farm production in Benue and Nassarawa States to other part of the Country.

“He commended the German Delegation for giving technical support to the Forestry Department of the Ministry to achieve it’s mandate.

“Balarabe further disclosed that Agro Forestry systems and innovations are vital tools in combating climate change and supporting sustainable agriculture in the country.

“The Minister promised to participate in the upcoming series of events to be organised by German Cooperation in Nigeria.

“Earlier, the Project Manager, Integrated Approach to Climate Change in Rice Production System in Nigeria, Mr Ozman Altamirano in his opening remarks, informed the Minister of the German Cooperation interventions in Nigeria that includes environmental sustainability management.

“Ozman stated that one of their projects in Benue and Nassarawa States has over 150,000 hectares of land for Rice, Mango, Banana Production and Agroforestry.

“He further explained that the second phase of their projects will extend to other part of the Northern States, mostly especially in Rice Production and tree planting.”
