Governor Hyacinth Alia deserves commendation, not insult – Hon. AgboA prominent community leader and philanthropist, Hon Ikwumonu Agbo, has condemned the recent verbal attack on Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Alia, by Hon. Philip Agbese, a member of the House of Representatives.
Agbo described Agbese’s statement, where he called the governor “deaf and dumb,” as disrespectful and urged well-meaning citizens of Benue State to disassociate themselves from such insults.
He praised Governor Alia’s administration for its numerous achievements, including prompt payment of salaries, clearing of retirees’ pensions and gratuities, and initiatives like the Benue State Agricultural Revolution and the Benue State Development Fund.
Agbo noted that the governor’s focus on policies and actions that attract investments, create jobs, and drive economic growth has earned him commendation and respect, not insults.
He emphasized that Governor Alia’s administration has made significant strides in development, infrastructure, and welfare of citizens, and that the people of Ado, Ogbadibo, Okpokwu Federal Constituency are solidly behind him.
Agbo also highlighted the governor’s groundbreaking initiatives, such as “No Woman, No Nation” and “Alia Cares,” aimed at lifting women from poverty and fostering a harmonious environment in the state.
He urged Benue elites to support the governor’s genuine efforts towards development, rather than resorting to insults and character assassination.
