Enugu PDP primaries : Hon.Okefi, others express gratitude to Gov Mbah

The Returning Officer, Prof. Godwin Udeuhele and Hon. Emeka Aneke, the Electoral Officer, both of whom conducted the People’s Democratic Party primaries for the forthcoming councillorship poll have certified the primaries in Oji River local government area as peaceful, with all the 20 PDP councillors returned unopposed to contest for a second term

But two days after, Hon. John Okefi representing Oji River Urban ward IV,vHon.Okey Nonyelum representing Ugwuoba ward 2 and Hon. Somadina Anyimadu representing Inyi ward 2, stormed the Enugu State PDP party headquarters, off Park Avenue, GRA, Enugu with their supporters, protesting alteration of the original list of candidates allegedly by some stakeholders, consequent upon which seven of them were replaced.

They described the action as very detrimental to the unity and peace the PDP is enjoying in Oji River local government area.

Their protest, with placards even though it did not last long, caused traffic gridlock along the tarmac leading into the party secretariat.

The protest attracted the attention of the state chairman of the party, Hon. Augustine Nnamani and some other members of the party executives.

Briefing newsmen thereafter, Hon. Okefi and his colleagues expressed gratitude to the leader of the party, Governor Peter Mbah for his quick prompt directive to reinstate them.

They pledged their unalloyed loyalty to the party leadership in the state and commitment to effective grassroot mobilisation in Oji River that would ensure the success of the party in the coming elections.
