I want performance not excuses, Wike tells new perm secs, mandate secretary

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike has called on the newly sworn in permanent secretaries and mandate secretary for Youth Development Secretariat to justify their positions by performance and not excuses.

He made the call on Thursday, during the swearing in of the pioneer mandate secretary for Youth Development Secretariat, Abdullahi Ango, with the new permanent secretaries approved by President Tinubu.

The Minister said appointment of Ango to head the Youth Secretariat was done with the full support of the Six Area Council chairmen.

He challenged the mandate secretary to liaise with the permanent secretary and come up with a programme that will have direct impact on the youth.

Wike said performance should be the flagship point of the secretary and the permanent secretaries.

He also told the permanent secretaries to work closely with the mandate secretaries to address challenges, where necessary.

Wike said, ” Abuja residents were clamouring for the establishment of the Secretariat that will carter for Youth, appointing of Ango was done by the six area council chairmen.

“Both of them should not just be happy It is not just to be happy but to come up with a programme that will help Abuja youths,use the new position to better the lives of youth,

“Good programmes and policies will help the youths. All of you must be hardworking, What I want is permanence not o excuse, what I want is performance and not excuses .There is nothing like excuse in my dictionary “.

Those sworn in include Okeke Chinwe, South East, Ajayi Babatunde, South West, Nathan Sabanti from North East and Gardiya Bawa, Solicitor – General of the FCT Administration /permanent secretary for Legal services secretariat.
