Gov Ododo applauds Supreme Court’s judgment, urges supporters to be magnanimous in victory

Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, has expressed his satisfaction with the Supreme Court’s decision affirming his election as the legitimate Governor of Kogi State.

Reacting to the Supreme Court ruling on Friday, Governor Ododo commended the judiciary for its integrity in upholding the law amid attempts to undermine justice through threats and blackmail.

He highlighted the court’s role as a crucial defender of democratic principles and the will of Kogi State’s electorate.

Governor Ododo also thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his support throughout the legal process.

He called on opposition leaders in Kogi State to collaborate with his administration in delivering greater benefits to the people.

A press release from Ismaila Isah, the Governor’s Special Adviser on Media, noted that Ododo urged his supporters and All Progressives Congress (APC) members to celebrate their victory with grace and magnanimity.

Governor Ododo described his triumph as a divine favour and emphasized that the November 11, 2023, governorship election was a contest to serve the people, not a personal battle. He praised the election as one of the most transparent and peaceful in the state’s history.

“I am thrilled by our victory and the judiciary’s steadfast commitment to justice, despite significant pressure,” Governor Ododo stated. “This win is a testament to the voters’ support and the transparent nature of the election. It is not just about me, but about uniting to advance Kogi State.”

He urged opposition parties to join efforts in advancing the state’s progress and vowed to lead with dedication and integrity. He assured that his administration will continue to work diligently to enhance democratic dividends for the people of Kogi State.

The Supreme Court’s ruling on Friday solidified Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo’s victory in the November 11, 2023, governorship election.

The five-member panel of the apex court rejected the appeal from the Social Democratic Party (SDP) and its candidate, Muritala Ajaka, deeming it without merit.
