Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has performed the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of a 35.6km road from Bagoma to Gagumi through Ungwan Fari, Idi Labo, Awaro, Tashan Keji, and Sabon Layi in Birnin Gwari Local Government Area (LGA).
The governor, who spoke at the ceremony, said the road project marks the beginning of the restoration of peace and stability to the long-suffering and troubled local government. He noted that Birnin Gwari LGA is a major gateway to many parts of Nigeria, rich in mineral deposits and arable land for farming, but has been plagued by security challenges.
Governor Sani assured that his administration is committed to facilitating the resumption of business activities in the local government and enabling the people to pick up the pieces of their shattered lives. He emphasized that infrastructure development, especially road infrastructure, is a priority of his administration.
According to him, since assuming office in 2023, his administration has flagged off 62 roads totaling 817km across Kaduna State, with some completed and commissioned while others are in advanced stages of completion.
The governor explained that the 35.6km road will significantly improve the social and economic conditions of the people, enhance movement of people and agricultural produce from farms to markets, reduce post-harvest losses, and enhance security. He added that direct and indirect jobs will be created during the construction period.
Governor Sani reiterated his commitment to stabilizing the situation in Birnin Gwari and restoring peace and stability to the local government.
