Speaker Abbas mourns passing of Hajiya Dada, mother of late President Yar’adua

Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Abbas Tajudeen has expressed sadness over the passing of Hajiya Dada, mother of late former President Umaru Musa Yar’adua. Hajiya Dada, who was 102 years old, passed away on Monday.

In a condolence statement, Speaker Abbas described Hajiya Dada’s death as a “sad development.” He noted that she was not only a mother to the late President Yar’adua but also to other notable figures, including late General Shehu Musa Yar’adua and Senator Abdulazeez Musa Yar’adua.

Speaker Abbas remembered Hajiya Dada’s motherly role in the lives of many Nigerians, beyond her biological children. He praised her as a woman who lived a life worthy of emulation.

The Speaker attended the funeral prayer of Hajiya Dada alongside Vice President Senator Kashim Shettima. The prayer was held at the Katsina township stadium, near the Yar’adua family residence.

After the funeral prayer, Hajiya Dada’s remains were interred at the Danmarna Cemetery in Katsina metropolis. Speaker Abbas offered prayers for her soul, asking Allah to have mercy on her and reward her with Jannatul Firdaus.

Speaker Abbas extended his heartfelt condolences to the Yar’adua family, the people, and the government of Katsina State over the loss. He acknowledged the significant impact Hajiya Dada had on the lives of many Nigerians.
