The newly admitted students of Taraba State Polytechnic, Suntai have been cautioned against indecent dressing, exam malpractices and illegal protest among other social vices as they take oath of admission.
State acting Rector of the Polytechnic Dr. Amos Agbu who gave the warning during Matriculation of over 2,500 students of 2023/2024 session said the institution has zero tolerance for all aspects of social vices pointing out that no student will be spared if found wanting in any of the above acts.
While congratulating them for successful admission, Dr. Agbu reminded them of the task ahead as the academic journey was not a jamboree but required total commitment, dedication and hard work to overcome challenges associated with it.
“With the emergence of new admission policy in Nigeria, every student must write JAMB before gaining admission into any higher institution of learning, I therefore urge the students who were not admitted into the polytechnic through JAMB to register and write for the forthcoming 2024/2025 UTME.”
He urged the newly admitted students to settle down for academic business as the polytechnic has an experienced team of scholars in different disciplines who are prepared to foster academic excellence, innovation and service delivery for the good and benefits of all students.
The acting Rector while enumerating Gov. Agbu Kefas’ unwavering commitment and passion for education in the state since assuming office in 2023 said the chief executive has demonstrated his resolve to ensure that his administration will stop at nothing until Taraba old narrative changes for better, particularly in education sector, he stated.
Dr. Amos Agbu thanked the Governor for his numerous support to the polytechnic which he said gave rise to achievements currently witness at moment, noting that the ministry of Education headed by it’s commissioner Dr. Augustina Godwin and her management team are working round the clock to ensure the state owned polytechnic moves to greater heights.
Enumerating major challenges under review, the State Polytechnic Boss listed monthly running cost, utility vehicles and accreditation of programmes. Others include construction and upgrading of laboratory workshop/lecture classrooms, construction of perimeter fence at Mayo-Dassa bridge linking to the polytechnic and procurement/installation of Solar street lights in the campus among several other challenges begging for attention.
In its remarks, the state commissioner for education Dr. Augustina Godwin who stood for Gov. Agbu Kefas at the occasion lauded both management and staff of the polytechnic for commitment in transformation of the institution to world standard.
While congratulating the new students, Dr. Kefas remarks that education in 21st Century has taken on a new dimension, hence the need for students to embrace up as his administration is committed to impact on education to move the state forward.
The Gov. encouraged the students to be hardworking and shun negative tendencies and focus toward achieving their dream as future leaders of tomorrow.
He commended the acting Rector Dr. Amos Agbu for team spirit while urging for more collaboration effort in that direction.
