Boko Haram suspect surrender to MNJTF, troops nab logistics supplies

A notorious Boko Haram Terrorists identified as Bochu Abacha has surrendered to troops of Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) deployed in Kukawa Local Government of Bornu State.

The suspect is Bochu a key figure in several terrorists operations.

Military sources said the suspect admitted to be a notorious Boko Haram Terrorist who has participated in several Boko Haram/ ISWAP Terrorists operations along the Mongunu – Baga axis.

He also confessed to having surrendered due to the intense operation of the MNJTF and lack of interest. He disclosed that he escaped from a Boko Haram camp in the Mussaram with his weapon.

“Items recovered from Bochu include one AK 47 Rifle and a magazine loaded with 11 rounds of 7.62 mm ammunition,one mobile phone, AIRTEL Sim card and the sum of Thirty Two Thousand Five Hundred Naira (N32,500). He is presently providing valuable intelligence to the authority.

Meanwhile, the sources said operation troops deployed in Gubio in conjunction with intelligence operatives successfully ambushed Boko Haram Terrorists conveying large logistics supply in 3 Toyota vehicles under the cover of darkness.

“The troops who moved into an ambush position for the terrorists following an intelligence report on the terrorists crossing point, engaged the terrorists in a fierce gun battle. One terrorist was killed while others fled into nearby forest due to superior fire power of troops abandoning a large logistics supply. Items recovered include 3 Toyota vehicles loaded with assorted food stuffs, other sundry items and the sum of Two Thousand Naira(N2,000),” the sources added.

CDS consoles Eno over demise of wife

The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Gwabin Musa has consoled the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Mr Umo Bassey Eno and the entire Akwa Ibom people over the sudden passing away of his wife, Pastor Mrs Patience Umo Eno.

The condolence message from the CDS on behalf of the Armed forces is signed by the
Director Defence Information, Brigadier General Tukur Gusau.

He said “The news of the sad event came to us like a shock wave. Surely, a big vacuum has been created in your family and the state considering the indispensable and invaluable roles she had played, most especially since the assumption of your administration.

“Her Excellency was not just a wife but a trusted and dependable ally to you. Notably, she will be fondly remembered for her efforts in enhancing the lives of the people of Akwa Ibom State particularly children, youths and vulnerable persons through her pet project, ‘Golden Initiative for All (GIFA).

“Painful as her sudden and unexpected death may be, I urge you to take solace in the lucid fact that as mortal beings, who must one day leave this other side of the sun, we have hope beyond here. May the Almighty God, grant you, the entire members of your family, and the good people of Akwa Ibom State the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss. Again, I wish those she left behind God’s divine protection always.”

Navy destroy 19 illegal refineries, arrest 8 in Niger-Delta

The Nigerian Navy say it has destroyed 19 illegal refineries and arrested eight suspected oil thieves in a 21-day operation in the Niger Delta region.

Navy spokesman, Commodore A Adams-Aliu, Director of Information, disclosed this in a press statement recently.

He said the operation, conducted under Operation DELTA SANITY to combat crude oil theft and maritime crimes.

He said “the operation, which took place from September 2-23, 2024, resulted in the seizure of 25 wooden boats, 138 sacks of stolen crude oil, 26 reservoirs, 19 ovens, 12 dugout pits, four drums, and three fibre boats.

“The Nigerian Navy will continue to sustain the tempo of Anti Crude Oil Operations to deny oil thieves freedom of action, especially in the Niger Delta region, for enhanced crude oil production towards improved economic development of our nation,” Adams-Aliu stated.

“The operation targeted illegal refining sites in Bayelsa, Rivers, Delta, and Ondo States.

“The Navy’s efforts have significantly disrupted the operations of oil thieves, protecting Nigeria’s maritime environment and economy.

“The arrested suspects and seized items will be handed over to relevant authorities for prosecution.

He assured of Nigeria Navy’s commitment to combating oil theft and maritime crimes, ensuring a safer and more secure environment for legitimate economic activities.

COAS assures troops of support systems to navigate marital challenges

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja has reassured troops and their family’s of comprehensive support systems to enable them navigate marital challenges.

The COAS stated this during the Maiden Workshop of the Nigerian Army Women Command on Building a Happy and Peaceful Family for Nigerian Army Personnel held at Army Headquarters Command Officers Mess 1 Asokoro Abuja.

The COAS who was represented by the Commander Army Headquarters Garrison Major General Koko Isoni stated that soldiers who have a happy and peaceful family often draw additional morale from the assurance of a secured home front to stay more focused and dedicated to their duties.

This heightened focus translates into better performance, quicker and more accurate decision-making, and ultimately, greater mission success. The COAS further noted that when soldiers can concentrate fully on their tasks without distraction of relationship crisis from the home front, the entire Army benefits.

The COAS also emphasized that the well-being of soldiers and their families lies at the heart of Nigerian Army’s transformation. Other support systems such as the Affordable Home Ownership Option for All Soldiers (AHOOAS), provision of accessible education for children of army personnel through command children and secondary schools, building of worship centres, establishment of skills acquisition centres for family members and many others he expressed.

The Commander Nigerian Army Women Command, Brigadier General Mathias Amatso in his welcome remarks expressed that the workshop was inspired by the COAS focus on Sound Administration as a pillar in his Command Philosophy. He further stated that it is specifically hinged on the tenet of Support for the Homefront under sound administration. He also remarked that Nigerian Army personnel should count themselves fortunate to have a Chief of Army Staff who do not only think about how many battles the soldiers win for him, but is also deeply concerned about how to support the soldiers Homefront (that is their family.). He highlighted that the workshop was a step by the Nigerian Army Women Command to actualize the tenet of Support for the Homefront in the COAS Command Philosophy, for the benefit of Nigerian Army Women Command troops, all participants of the workshop and Nigerian Army at large

Lectures delivered were on: Soldiering and Building a Happy and Peaceful Family through Deliberate practices, Balancing Military Service and parenting.

Others were Honouring our Values: Addressing Sexual Violence and Abuse, and Notable Nigerian Army Policys relating to Family life

High points of the event were, interactive session, presentation of souvenirs, presentation of certificates to participants and group photograph.
