Social media influencer Martins Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, appeared before the House of Representatives Joint Committee today. He was accompanied by his lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, for the investigation into disturbing allegations of corruption against the EFCC and Nigerian Correctional Services.
VeryDarkMan recounted his online posts and submitted audio recordings and documents to the committee. His testimony related to allegations of bribery involving EFCC officials.
Idris Okuneye, aka Bobrisky, was absent due to ill health, represented by lawyer Averosoghene Omuvwie. However, lawmakers questioned the absence of a doctor’s report to validate this claim.
The investigation stems from an audio recording posted by VeryDarkMan, where Bobrisky allegedly claimed to have bribed EFCC officials with N15 million to drop money laundering charges.
Lawmakers scrutinized Bobrisky’s absence, seeking proof of his illness. The lack of documentation raised concerns about the legitimacy of his absence.
VeryDarkMan’s testimony and evidence submission marked a significant step in the investigation. The committee will likely continue gathering information and hearing testimonies.
The allegations of corruption and bribery within the EFCC and Nigerian Correctional Services have sparked widespread concern. The House of Representatives’ investigation aims to uncover the truth and ensure accountability.
