The Acting Vice-Chancellor of the University of Abuja (UniAbuja), Professor Patricia Manko Lar, has appealed to the Federal Government to boost financial support for the institution as it undertakes major development efforts.
Professor Lar made the appeal during a courtesy visit to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Dr George Akume, in Abuja over the weekend.
She explained that the University was currently undergoing substantial expansion and required enhanced government backing to sustain its progress.
The Acting VC also expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his Renewed Hope Agenda and interventions in the education sector, which she said had contributed meaningfully to national educational improvement.
Emphasising her vision for the institution, Professor Lar said her leadership was focused on creating a supportive environment for sustainable growth and meaningful reform.
In response, Dr Akume commended her on her new role and urged her to elevate the University’s global standing.
He also reiterated the government’s dedication to advancing tertiary education, stressing the importance of visionary leadership and accountability in strengthening Nigeria’s higher education system.
