The Federal government has assured that it is fully committed to the restoration of peace in the North-West.
The assurance was given by the Minister of State for Defence, Dr. Bello Muhammed Matawalle during his comprehensive security assessment tour of Sokoto State.
Dr. Matawalle also witnessed the handover of critical military assets and received operational briefings on recent successes in the fight against insurgency.
Director, Information and Public Relations, Barr. Henshaw Ogubike disclosed this in a press release.
He said the tour was part of the Federal Government’s strategic efforts to address the ongoing insecurity plaguing the North-West region.
“During his visit to Gundumi village, Dr. Matawalle assured residents that the long-closed Gundumi-Isa road would be reopened without delay, with a military camp established along the route to enhance security and facilitate economic activities.
“At the Sokoto State Government House, the Honourable Minister oversaw the formal handover of 10 operational vehicles to military forces, including 8 Buffalo trucks and 2 Toyota Hilux, generously donated by the Sokoto State Government.
“Following the handover, the Minister received an extensive operational briefing from the Air Component of Joint Operation Hadarin Daji. Dr. Matawalle lauded the precision and effectiveness of recent air and ground operations, which have led to the neutralization of several high-profile bandit leaders.
“The Federal Government will not relent in providing the support you need to sustain these victories. We will not rest until peace is fully restored in the North-West,” the Minister added.
