North West residents hail Matawalle as NAF’s airstrikes eliminate bandit kingpins’ loyalists

Residents of the North-West region have commended the Minister of State for Defence, Dr. Bello Matawalle, following the success of recent Nigerian Air Force (NAF) airstrikes that neutralized numerous bandits, including loyalists of notorious criminal leaders Dan-Isuhu and Dogo Sule.

The coordinated operations mark a significant milestone in the fight against banditry in Zamfara and the broader North-West, according to Abdulrashid Ibrahim Danja Katsina, Coordinator of the North West Concerned Citizens.

In a statement on Monday, Katsina praised the efforts, attributing the achievements to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s comprehensive security strategy, which included directing Dr. Matawalle and military chiefs to relocate to Sokoto State.

“This move underscores the administration’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of citizens across the region,” Katsina said.

Under Matawalle’s leadership, the military has recorded remarkable victories, including the elimination of key bandit leaders like Alhaji Halilu. These accomplishments have rekindled hope among communities that have endured years of violence.

During a recent visit to Sokoto State, Matawalle instructed troops to capture the notorious bandit leader Bello Turji, dead or alive. This directive has further encouraged residents, who are optimistic about Turji’s imminent capture, while boosting the morale of security forces.

The group also expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for his decisive approach to addressing insecurity. They highlighted that deploying Matawalle to the region reflects the administration’s determination to safeguard lives and property.

Acknowledging the efforts of the Nigerian Air Force and other security agencies, Katsina praised their professionalism and commitment, emphasizing their critical role in the recent successes against banditry.

Residents of the region remain hopeful that sustained military operations will lead to the complete eradication of banditry and the restoration of lasting peace.
