Flood: regional ministry flags off palliative distribution to rivers state’s victims

The Ministry of the Ministry of Regional Development has commenced the distribution of relief materials to flood victims in Rivers State.

Among the items for distribution were bags of rice, vegetable oil, motorcycles, grinding machines, mosquito nets, and others.

The Minister of the Ministry of Regional Development, Engr Abubakar Momoh oversaw
the distribution of the relief materials to the people of Rivers State following the devastating floods that ravaged some communities in the state.

The Minister who was represented by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Regional Development, Dr Shuaib Belgore said his ministry is providing relief materials and empowerment tools to the peeple of the nine states of the Niger Delta region as part of its yearly intervention programmes occasioned by recent floods.

Witnessing the Flag-Off Ceremony of palliatives distribution was the Deputy Governor of Rivers State, Prof. Ngozi Nma Odu, who represented the Governor Siminalayi Fubara.
The governor hailed the efforts of the Federal Government and in particular the Ministry of Regional Development and emphasised that the victims of the floods would benefit from the palliatives.

Dr Belgore thanked the Rivers State government for the cooperation while he urged fair distribution of items and empowerment tools to the affected people in the communities.

The Ministry and the Rivers State government thus set up a committee to ensure proper distribution of these palliatives.
