The Chairman of Abuja Municipal Area Council , Hon. Christopher Maikalangu has urged the residents especially Christians not to go extremes during the celebration.

He said incurring debts because of the celebration would not only reflect love and peace of the season, but will limit the reason for Christmas.

Maikàlangu in a statement by his media aide, Congratulated Christians on the peaceful 2024 Christmas celebration.

The chairman asked residents to use the occasion of Christmas to rededicate themselves to the virtues of love and peace as exemplified by Jesus Christ.

The Council boss also reminded residents that AMAC was similarly founded on the principles of love for country, respect for fellow citizens and peaceful co-existence in the nation’s capital.

He, therefore urged all residents of AMAC, to continue to imbibe these virtues as embodied by the season of Christmas.

According to him, the occasion of Christmas is to show love to themselves and pray for their leaders in authority.

The statement reads, “Celebrate Christmas moderately, don’t incur debts, Celebrate within your capacity, don’t try to impress anybody.’’

Maikalangu said there was no need to engage in any competition while celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ.

He emphasized particularly that “Jesus Christ was never in competition with anybody; so, you are not expected to trouble your minds. Celebrate within your limits, with pure heart, and Jesus will accept your celebration.’’
