The President General of Ahani Achi autonomous community, Hon. Kingsley Ezeh, has alleged that voters from his village were under threat to vote for a particular candidate, in the election of a new traditional in his community, held on December 28th.
Hon. Ezeh alleged that a top politician (name withheld) in the state, masterminded the ugly act.
According to Ezeh, one of the armed thugs was eventually caught by the police while voting was on going.
He pleaded for the cancellation of December 28 election in Ahani-Achi and void the pronouncement of Ozo Samuel Ekesi as the newly elected traditional ruler of Ahani-Achi autonomous community, claiming that the arrest of the gunman in the field while voting was ongoing created fears and panic among some voters, who ran away for the safety of their lives, including himself.
He said the voters who ran away would have voted for Ozo Ken Imachukwu.
He argued that if the December 1 election- was declared inconclusive over allegation that one of the electoral officials was found in possession of a card, the fear and panic created by the arrest of the gunman among those who wanted to cast their votes did more harm than the former.
Hon. Eze pleaded for a revert to the December 1 election, by allowing the electoral committee to announce the final results, they collated in which Ozo Imachukwu is believed to have scored higher votes than Ozo Samuel Ekesi. He said by so doing,Ozo Imachukwu will be declared the winner of the election.
Hon. Eze said some people from his village who were threatened and held hostage by the alleged gunmen have reported the matter to the police.
