Dr. Mathias Terwase Byuan, Executive Director, Housing, Finance and Accounts, Federal Housing Authority (FHA), has commended the Joint Finance Committees of the National Assembly for their diligence in overseeing the country’s budget.
Speaking to journalists after defending the authority’s budget before the Joint National Assembly Committee on Finance, Byuan praised the committee’s thoroughness in scrutinizing the budget.
According to Byuan, the committee sought detailed information on the authority’s revenue generation for the previous year and the current year to fund the 2025 budget. He emphasized the crucial role of the housing sector in the country’s economy, highlighting the authority’s efforts to develop affordable housing for Nigerians.
Byuan revealed that the authority has received significant interest from various groups, including the police, military, immigration, and civil servants, for the affordable housing project. The project, according to him, valued at N180 billion, aims to provide affordable housing options for Nigerians.
This development is part of the Federal Government’s efforts to address the country’s housing deficit. The government has promised to deliver 5,000 housing units for low-income earners, with the Federal Housing Authority playing a key role in achieving this target ².
