The Executive Governor of Benue State, Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, has reignited players and supporters optimism in the state owned Lobi Stars Football club when he made a surprise visit to the Club at their training camp, McCarthy Stadium Makurdi, on Thursday.
The governor who was accompanied on the surprise visit by the Chairman of the club, Dr. Philip Nongu and some top dignitaries, reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the club’s success and assured the players of his government’s unwavering support.
The Governor who said he was aware of the team’s rough times at the beginning of the season told the players, “I’ve come to see your faces and encourage you not to relent. This administration means well. When the season started, the road was rough, but now you have people who can take you to the promised land.”
He promised to expedite the club’s return to their home ground, adding, “This is just the first phase of Lobi Stars. I assure you that going forward, you will have a new narrative. You will rise to greater heights.”
The club’s Technical Adviser, Daniel Amokachi, expressed gratitude for the governor’s visit, pledging the team’s maximum cooperation.
Captain Solomon Kwambe, speaking on behalf of the players, promised that the team would deliver and make the governor and the state proud.
Governor Alia’s visit to the team is a moral booster as the pride of Benue prepare for their second stanza away opener against Heartland FC in Owerri this weekend.
