From Salisbury Zakari Maradun, Gusau
Governor Dauda Lawan of Zamfara state has been advised to strive hard and intervene in bringing to order some civil servants and be firm with the provision of rules and regulations governing their official and civic responsibilities.
He should also ensure he work with those whose mission is to help the government in its quest to moving the state forward economically and politically.
A political stalwart in the state, Alhaji Saadu Idris gave the advice while speaking to The Authority in an interview in Gusau, capital of the state.
Idris was reacting to a recent development in the state-owned media outfits where a number of workers there were either removed from their offices or transferred to other places without following due process as enshrined in the civil service rules.
He also frowned at what transpired, particularly the radio house and other outfit of the government where the managing director of the station was disgraced on the order of whoever, saying, such action by whosoever did it should be called to order. He also added that such action had never happened in other states, ‘So why in Zamfara,” he queried.
“We learnt the workers at those places with dismissal were replaced with people not known to be supporters of the ruling party in the state.
Speaking further, Saidu explained that the governor should also be careful in appointing those to work with adding that, “most of the present appointees are more of the opposition APC who worked with the previous government under it, and currently most of the key officers working in the media outfits of the state are APC loyalists, and are still together. “I am therefore appealing to the government to ensure it cross check the media sector with a view to fishing out the saboteurs among them especially in the newly established media corporation where it is believed that 80% therein is of the opposition APC; Alh. Saidu Idris concluded.
