LP newly appointed chair calls for unity ahead of FCT area council elections

By Abbanobi -Eku Onyekachi, Abuja

The newly appointed Chairman of the Labour Party (LP) in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Dr. Tobias Obiechina, has urged party members to remain united in order to achieve victory in the upcoming area council elections in the nation’s capital. Obiechina, who is also the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer (MD/CEO) of Tobel Technologies Limited, made this call while addressing journalists in his office in Abuja over the weekend.

The Chairman, who was recently appointed by the National Transition and Caretaker Committee of the party, alongside Retired Commissioner of Police, Henry Njoku, and Danladi Manjung as Deputy Chairman and Secretary, respectively, with members emphasized the need for unity among party members. He noted that the party had the support of women, youth, men, and everyone in the FCT and Nigeria in general, but regretted that they were denied victory at the national and state levels.

Obiechina expressed optimism that with continued unity and the support of Nigerians, the party would not allow such a denial to happen again. He encouraged party members to continue supporting the LP, which he believed would give the country a landslide victory and free Nigeria from the bondage of the present government.

“Let us do the magic we did in the 2023 election, so as to make a new Nigeria possible,” Obiechina stated. “With this committee, which is under my supervision and the support from members and FCT residents and indigenes, the lost glory will be restored.”

The Labour Party is gearing up for the area council elections in the six area councils of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), and Obiechina’s call for unity is seen as a crucial step in strengthening the party’s position in the upcoming elections.
