Frustrated by the ongoing strike at Kaduna State University (KASU), the Forum of Student Union Leaders, Kaduna State, has issued a passionate appeal to both the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) and the Kaduna State Government for a swift resolution.
In a statement endorsed by 25 student leaders, including Comrade Yusuf Idris (President, KASU SUG), Comrade Amina Bello (Chairperson, NUBESS Kaduna Chapter), and Comrade Abdulmalik Sani (Secretary-General, Forum of Student Leaders, Kaduna State), the students expressed deep concern over the disruption of their academic calendar, calling it a major setback to their future.
“We acknowledge the legitimate concerns of our lecturers, who have been at the forefront of the struggle for better funding and improved working conditions. However, we, the students, are the ones suffering the most. Our education is on hold, and our dreams are being delayed,” the statement read.
The students also praised Governor Uba Sani’s commitment to education, citing his tuition reduction efforts and ongoing revitalization programs. They urged the government to take decisive steps in addressing ASUU’s demands to prevent further disruptions.
“With our future at stake, we appeal to ASUU to consider our plight and urge both parties to find a middle ground that prioritizes students’ education,” the forum added.
The ASUU-KASU strike has left thousands of students stranded, heightening concerns over its long-term impact. As pressure mounts, all eyes are now on the Kaduna State Government and ASUU to reach a swift resolution.
