Northern Group Praises President Tinubu on AMCON Chair Appointment

Kaduna, Nigeria -The Northern Ethnic Youths Group Assembly (NEYGA) has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the appointment of Dr. Bala Bello, the Deputy Governor of Operations at the Central Bank of Nigeria, as the part-time Chairman of the Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON).

This appointment comes at a crucial time as AMCON intensifies efforts to recover an estimated N4 trillion in debt.
In a statement signed by Alhaji Dan-Musa, NEYGA lauded the President’s decision, emphasizing Dr. Bello’s role in the ongoing reforms at the Central Bank of Nigeria. The group expressed confidence that Dr. Bello possesses the necessary zeal and expertise to effectively reform AMCON and achieve significant results in debt recovery.

“This appointment is timely and reflects President Tinubu’s commitment to national unity and effective governance,” stated Alhaji Dan-Musa. “Dr. Bala Bello is an individual of integrity and competence, and we believe he is adequately equipped for this important assignment. The President has made an excellent choice.”

NEYGA further asserted that Dr. Bello’s uncompromising character will be instrumental in his new role and that he will not disappoint the nation in his efforts to strengthen AMCON.
The Nigerian Senate recently confirmed Dr. Bello’s nomination as part-time Chairman, along with the appointment of five other Non-Executive Directors of AMCON. This confirmation followed the presentation and adoption of the report by the Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance, and Other Financial Institutions.
The confirmed Non-Executive Directors are Yusuf Sule (North-Central), Adeyemo Stephen (South-West), Yahaya Ibrahim (North-West), Odion Iyare (South-South), and Emily Osuji (South-East).
NEYGA joins other stakeholders in expressing optimism that the newly appointed leadership will bring fresh impetus and strategic direction to AMCON’s operations, ultimately contributing to the stability and growth of the Nigerian economy.

The Northern Ethnic Youths Group Assembly (NEYGA) is a coalition of youth organizations from across the Northern region of Nigeria, committed to promoting unity, good governance, and socio-economic development in the region and the nation at large.
