A senior correspondent with Blueprint newspaper in the nation’s capital, Abuja, Donald Iorchir has emerged the Ortar (Tiv) of Chukuku in Kuje Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Speaking during the coronation and conferement of a honouree PhD at the weekend, Ter Kuje, HRH Begha Azenda (JP), advised Iorchir to work with the natives and all tribes in the community to promote peace and unity.
He told him not to only limit himself to handling Tiv community issues but to also assist other ethnic and religious groups that may come to him or need his help.
Azenda called on residents of Chukuku, especially Tiv youth to obey and seek counsel from their leaders and shun acts of indiscipline.
He warned that anyone who involves in an act that will ignite violence would be reported to the appropriate security agencies for necessary action.
Azenda said, “Donald Iorchir has been Coronated as the Ortar Chukuku because of commitment to peace and unity in the community.
“All the two Tiv ruling houses in Chukuku have settled for Iorchir, and I am happy coronating him because there is no opposition from any side, it shows that he is a good person. I therefore, encourage him to continue with the good conduct.
“Members of the community should always report to him if there is any challenge, they should not take law into their hands when there is a misunderstanding”
Azenda also pledged his commitment to the good of his people, even as he called on Tiv youth to continue to respect elders and other constituted authorities.
Donald Iorchir was also conferred with a honouree PhD by Godwin Nyitse, coordinator of Israel University in Nigeria.
Responding, Dr Donald Iorchir promised to continue in his quest to support security agencies and other government institutions to promote a better society.
