Group offers free eye clinic at Ogwa Mission hospital

As part of her commitments to humanitarian services and in the spirit of boosting the forthcoming Easter celebrations, NICER Foundation in collaborative partnership with COPDEM and Helping Hands for Women and Youth Support have advanced plans to offer 5 days comprehensive free eye clinic to the people of Ogwa Anunu Umu Mgbe ancient community and its environ.

The historical event which commences this Tuesday 15th of April, 2025 by 8 am daily at Ogwa Mission Hospital in Mbaitoli Local Government Area of Imo State is expected to end on Saturday 19th April, 2025.

According to Dr. Chisomaga Ezeocha, the Founder of NICER Foundation also said that in line with the Biblical injunction in Mathew 9 vs 29, “the blind shall see” the free eye clinic is poised to handle medical issues like consultation, cataract, surgeries, sight correction with reading glasses, (eye medication).

Ezeocha who’s an illustrious son of Umueze Abazu Ogwa autonomous community informed that experienced Optometrists, together with other medical experts in terms of eye and casual workers have been hired to handle the intensive programme.

He pointed out that his organization, NICER Foundation which is a non governmental organization resolved to collaborate with the aforementioned non governmental organizations based on observations and series of complain, they received that most people in Ogwa ancient community and its environ have eye problems but cannot afford the needed treatment due to poverty, neglect and ignorance.

“Worried by these, and as people committed in humanitarian services, we decided to hold the bull by the horns and address the issues through this well packaged 5 days comprehensive free eye clinic.

” The beneficiaries will cut across the 34 autonomous communities in Mbaitoli LGA, and its neighbouring communities in other LGAs of Imo State like Ikeduru, Njaba, Isu, Isiala Mbano etc “.

Ezeocha further expressed optimism that within the 5 days over 1,000 eye patients are poised to benefit from the humanitarian services.

He however enjoined people of Imo State, especially those with any kind of eye sickness to avail themselves of the opportunity so as to be freely counselled and treated by experts.
