MC Tagwaye declares for AMAC Chairmanship under SDP

Popular comedian and social activist, Dr. Obinna Simon, popularly known as MC Tagwaye, has officially declared his intention to contest for the chairmanship of the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) under the platform of the Social Democratic Party (SDP).

Speaking during his declaration in Abuja, Dr. Simon cited the urgent need to address the growing socio-economic challenges faced by residents of AMAC, particularly women and youth at the grassroots, as the driving force behind his ambition.

He said, “Today, Nigeria faces unprecedented challenges. Our women and youth, especially in the grassroots, struggle to access basic necessities like food, affordable accommodation, and affordable healthcare.

“The cost of living has become unbearable, and it’s heartbreaking to see our communities suffer. As someone who has witnessed these struggles firsthand, I have decided to join the race for AMAC Chairman under the platform of the Social Democratic Party.”

A former member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Simon explained that his departure from the ruling party was driven by a growing disillusionment with its current direction.

According to him, the party had strayed from its original mission and no longer represented the interest of ordinary Nigerians.

“I was committed to the ideals of the APC, but over time, it became clear that the party had lost its way. Its policies only added to the suffering of low-income earners,” he stated.

Renowned not only for his satirical performances but also as a businessman and youth advocate, MC Tagwaye said his candidacy brings a unique blend of creativity, accountability, and a deep understanding of community needs. He emphasized a vision built on inclusivity, transparency, and sustainable development.

His campaign, he revealed, will focus on creating opportunities for youth through skill acquisition programs and the establishment of cottage industries that would boost local employment and economic development.

“I’m driven by a profound conviction that I can catalyze transformative changes in AMAC by championing causes that uplift marginalized communities, advocating for policies that tackle pressing challenges in healthcare, education, affordable accommodation and infrastructure, and demonstrating unwavering commitment to honesty, transparency, and accountability.”

Dr. Simon also pledged to run a transparent and accountable administration that works directly with communities to find lasting solutions to local challenges.

He urged AMAC residents to support his bid.

“I ask for your vote, your support, and your prayers. Together, we can shape the future of AMAC and create lasting change for generations to come.”
