This operation follows the NSCDC Commandant General, Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi’s directive to crack down on oil thieves nationwide.
The CG SIS Commander, AS Dandaura, revealed that the arrests were made following a well-coordinated raid based on credible intelligence about suspected vandals engaging in illegal refining of petroleum products.
Out of the seven raided sites, five illegal oil dumps were uncovered, leading to the arrest of seven suspects, including: Akande Olusola, male, 48 years; Anas Usman, male, 33 years; Jonathan Onekutu, male, 45 years; Uchenna Kelechi, male, 44 years and; Chukwuma Solomon.
This recent arrest is part of a broader effort to combat oil theft in Nigeria. In a similar operation, the Nigerian Army recently arrested 43 suspects and seized over 254,000 liters of stolen crude oil and refined petroleum products across the Niger Delta. The NSCDC’s actions demonstrate the agency’s commitment to protecting the nation’s resources and preventing economic sabotage.
