One Billion Rising, IRISE set to host Lagos Freedom Festival 2.0

…Presents Charles Ukpong’s MMA UDOMA

Arrangements have been concluded for this year’s Lagos Freedom Festival organised by One Billion Rising and Initiative to Resist Institutional Slavery and Exploitation (IRISE)

The organisers represented by Omodele Ejeh, Country Director, One Billion Rising, Nigeria, disclosed that among programme lined up for the event is the presentation of an epic drama, MMA UDOMA, a drama written by Charles Ukpang which will be directed by Oluwafemi Adegbola in collaboration with Deity Films) . and dealing with fictional representation of the 1929 Aba Ikot Abasi Women’s Revolt.

The event which has been slated to take place on April 20, 2025, by 12 pm at Festival Hotel, the former Golden Tulip, Arthur Mbanefo Hall, Amuwo-Odofin, Lagos State, is expected to attract people of varied backgrounds for the betterment of the society and preservation of the mother earth.

Ejeh who said that the event was designed to Celebrate the Cultural diversity Entertainment, Art and lifestyle of Lagos and to commemorate World Earth day added that among other activities lined up for the event include panel discussion, art, music, dance and theatre.

Ejeh urged the public to attend on mass with their tickets which can be obtained online and at designated centres, even as tickets can still be obtained at the venue.

She said, “We encourage people to attend as the event promises to be entertaining, come with your family also. The event is suitable for your family, you can buy your ticket on line or at the venue.

“Just get ready to experience ultimate celebration of art, music, dance, theatre, activism and lots more and enjoy the advantages Lagos’ rich ethnic blend,” Ejeh disclosed.
