Projects: We’re utilizing our budget well – Wike

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike said his administration has been utilizing its budget well for execution of projects.

He stated this after inspecting some ongoing road projects in Abuja on Thursday.

Wike said the 2024 budget currently in progress will be expired in June, 2025, but he commended the National Assembly for about N10 billion virement which is standing to the credit of Apo-Wasa, N20 and N5 road projects.

He said as soon as the National Assembly resume from recess the 2025 budget will also be approved.

Wike said, “We believe that we will utilize our project and that as soon as the National Assembly comes back from their recess, they will also approve the 2025 budget.

“We were at 3 locations today, Wassa, N20 and now we are at N5. We were at the Wassa Junction, that’s from Outer Southern Expressway (OSEX) leading to Wassa Junction. It’s one of the roads we believe, by the grace of God, will be inaugurated in Mr. President’s second year anniversary.

“We also went to the Northern Parkway, where Gilmore is working, and they reassured that by the grace of God, that interchange will also be inaugurated during the second year of Mr. President.

“Now we are at N5, which is from Life Camp, this project is segmented into two. From the beginning to this point, which was awarded, and then from this point, where we have the bridges, down to the village in the second phase of the work.

“Generally, we are happy with the quality of work that has been carried out by all the contractors. We, on our part, do everything possible to keep to our own obligations, so that they will not find excuses why they were unable to fulfill their own obligations.

“The National Assembly virement of about 10 billion Naira, which is standing to the credit of this particular project, and that Budget 2024 will be expiring by the end of June this year”
