Ogba Victor released after kidnapping attempt as NCP expresses dismay

The leadership of the National Conscience Party (NCP) South-South Zone, has expressed with dismay the attempted kidnapping of the Edo State Chairman of the Party, Comrade Victor Ogba.

In a release signed by Pastor Peters Omoragbon, National Deputy Chairman, National Conscience Party, Nigeria, (South-South), Ogba who is also the National Coordinator of the Movement for National Transformation (MNT), was kidnapped on Thursday night, April 24, 2025, along Textile Mill Road, Benin City, Edo State.

According to the release, Ogba was whisked away by gun totting masked men that shot sporadically into the air to scare bystanders after blindfolding him and driving him off in his car.

Omoragbon in the press release also narrated how the police went after the kidnappers which led to assailants abandoning their victim. “The kidnappers were chased by a Police Patrol vehicle that happened to be around the scene of the incident. After a long pursuit with all outlets and inlets into Benin blocked with no means of escape the kidnappers had to push Comrade Ogba out of the car after threatening to have him killed but was spared by the grace of God.

“Comrade Ogba was supported by some good Samaritans from where he was dumped and taken to a nearby police station,” the release said.

The NCP used the opportunity to shower encomium on the Nigeria police for their gallantry that led to the release of Victor Ogba. “We want to place on record our admiration for the gallantry of the Nigerian Police Force in their efforts to secure the release of Comrade Ogba by their pursuit.”

NCP also expressed concerns over the spate of insecurity and constant kidnaping in Edo state and Nigeria in general and appealed to the federal government to take urgent steps to recruit more Nigerians into the police force to be able to tackle kidnapping and other crimes in Nigeria. “We express our grave concerns over the spate of insecurity and constant kidnaping in Edo State and Nigeria in general.

“There is the urgent need for the government to recruit more citizens into the security agencies in Nigeria. The current ratio of the less than one million members of the police force cannot service the over 230 million people of Nigeria with the various accounts of the poor state of insecurity in the nation. This calls for national emergency!,” the statement said.

The group in the statement also appealed that anybody who has useful information on how to recover the car belonging to Ogba should inform the police. “Meanwhile, anyone with information to the recovery of the vehicle belonging to the victim with Reg. No. BWR 396 SB, BLACK ACURA MDX to please report to the nearest police station.”

They also thank for sparing the life of their member “To God be the glory for sparing the life of our brother and Comrade.”
