Hon Bello Lawal,, National President, Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) has congratulated employees of local government councils in Nigeria, hailing them for their unfailing dedication to duty.
In his 2025 May Day message, Lawal said: “As we commemorate May Day, we recognize the extraordinary milestones achieved through the synergy between President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, Local Governments, and the tireless efforts of Nigerian workers especially at the Local Governments.
“We salute the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and all Nigerian workers for their unwavering commitment to nation-building in formal and informal sectors.
Your motto, “Labour is the bedrock of the Nation,” resonates deeply, reflecting your invaluable contributions. The (Nigerian) President’s commitment to empowering local governments has yielded significant benefits for workers and citizens alike.”
Lawal went further to say: “To our rural workers, your unwavering dedication, resilience, and tireless efforts despite challenges, inspire us all at the Local Governments.
“We commend your strength and commitment to your work, often under difficult conditions. We acknowledge the hurdles you face and remain committed to improving your working conditions and overall well-being.
We appreciate the collaborative efforts of the Federal and State Governments, judiciary, and Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) alongside the informal sector Workers in supporting local governance,” the ALGON boss stated
He said also that: “The landmark Autonomy Judgment will enhance Local Government capacity to deliver impactful services in the communities.
“We commend President Tinubu’s leadership and vision for prioritizing workers’ welfare and grassroots development which the states are keying into.
“ALGON also appreciates the NLC’s role in advocating for workers’ rights and promoting social justice.
“Happy Labour Day to our hardworking men and women!”, Lawal added.
